How Amede Nzeribe Dumped Law To Become A Style Powerhouse
Amede, a fashion label founded by Amede Nzeribe, a Nigerian trained lawyer turned fashion designer is today one of the beacons in the Nigerian fashion industry.
Amede from a very young age has had a passion for fashion. Her debut into the world of fashion started in 1993 while studying Law at the University of Nigeria Nsukka. Shortly after law school she realized that the only way forward was to follow her dreams, which was more in expressive creativity and colours in fashion.
In pursuit of her passion, she took a keen interest in the local tye dye and batik fabrics and she came up with different ways of expressing her ideas by producing her very own. As soon as Amede gave her first fabric sketches to a local dyer and saw the amazing results, she has not looked back. The journey of the Amede label had begun.
The Amede brand has over the years succeeded in revolutionising the art of dyeing using tye dye and batik techniques which have today become the Amede signature fabric design.
Amede’s vision for the label is to create clothes for women who want to stand out elegantly without trying too hard. Women longing for things of value and drawn to that which is true and tangible. These are the qualities that make the Amede label wearable arts of treasure.
